Akemi Coffee Boost is a powdered supplement sold in single-serve sachets. You stir one into the coffee you already drink, and the seller markets it to support weight loss, energy and metabolism. In this Akemi Coffee Boost review, we cover what it is, what's in it, what research says about each ingredient, how much caffeine it adds, what it costs and who should skip it.

We did not test it on people. We reviewed the official US site and its order, FAQ, shipping and returns pages, and compared the claims with published research.

Key takeaways

  • Akemi Coffee Boost is not a coffee. It's a flavorless, odorless powder you add to coffee, tea, water or a smoothie, hot or cold.
  • Each box holds 20 sachets (40 g), and the directions call for one sachet a day.
  • The seller lists seven ingredients: green tea extract, green coffee bean extract, white kidney bean extract, mulberry leaf extract, L-carnitine L-tartrate, resistant dextrin and psyllium husk.
  • Each sachet has about 30 mg of caffeine. The amount of each ingredient isn't published on the site.
  • Several ingredients have some supportive research, mostly at doses a 2 g sachet likely can't match.
  • At the time of writing, it costs $19.99 to $29.99 per box, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

What Is Akemi Coffee Boost?

Despite the name, Akemi Coffee Boost isn't instant coffee. It's an add-in. The official site calls it "a powdered blend of plant-derived ingredients and fiber, packed in single-serve sachets." The seller says it is flavorless and odorless and dissolves in seconds, so your coffee looks and tastes the same.

The box reads "Coffee Boost," "Food Supplement" and "Awaken Your Metabolism with Every Cup," and lists 40 g, or 20 sachets. That's about 2 grams of powder per sachet. The US site describes it as a dietary supplement to be used as part of a balanced diet and active lifestyle.

What the Seller Claims

The order page lists four headline claims: "Support Weight Loss," "Help Increase Energy," "Boost Metabolism" and "Tested Ingredients." It also says the blend "contains natural metabolism boosters" and "helps to increase energy levels without the crash or jitters." The FAQ says many people report noticing a difference within 2 to 4 weeks of daily use.

We found no published clinical study of Akemi Coffee Boost itself, and the site doesn't explain what "Tested Ingredients" means.

Akemi Coffee Boost Ingredients

The official site lists seven ingredients but doesn't publish the amount of each; it refers buyers to the product label for full supplement facts.

IngredientWhat research shows (in brief)
Green coffee bean extractFew small, low-quality trials
Green tea extractModest at best
White kidney bean extractMixed results from flawed trials
Mulberry leaf extractCan blunt blood sugar rises after carbs
L-carnitine L-tartrateSmall effect that fades over time

Psyllium husk powder (fiber)Supportive results at about 10 g a day

What the Research Says About Each Ingredient

Green Coffee Bean Extract and Caffeine

Green coffee beans are unroasted and contain chlorogenic acids plus caffeine. A meta-analysis found more weight loss with green coffee extract than placebo, but only three trials qualified, all at high risk of bias. The authors called the results promising but said better trials are needed (Onakpoya et al., 2011).

Caffeine can raise energy use a little, but studies that measured this mostly used more than 30 mg. See Does Coffee Help You Lose Weight?

Green Tea Extract

Green tea's catechins and caffeine "may have a modest effect on body weight," according to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH). A Cochrane review found almost no weight difference in studies done outside Japan (about 0.04 kg). Studies in Japan looked more favorable but were too varied to combine (Jurgens et al., 2012).

NCCIH also notes that green tea extract supplements have rarely been linked to liver injury, and that green tea can interact with medicines such as nadolol, atorvastatin and raloxifene.

White Kidney Bean Extract

White kidney bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) extract is sold as a "carb blocker" because it can slow an enzyme that digests starch. In a systematic review, every included trial had serious flaws, and the weight difference versus placebo wasn't statistically significant. The authors said no firm conclusions could be drawn (Onakpoya et al., 2011).

Mulberry Leaf Extract

In a randomized, double-blind study of 37 adults, a specific mulberry leaf extract taken with a carbohydrate drink reduced the rise in blood glucose by 14% at the normal dose and 22% at a double dose, compared with placebo (Lown et al., 2017). That's a blood sugar finding after a carb load, not a weight-loss result. See also How to Lower Blood Sugar Naturally.

L-Carnitine L-Tartrate

Carnitine helps move fats into cells to be used for energy. A meta-analysis of nine trials with 911 adults found that people taking carnitine lost about 1.3 kg more than control groups on average, and that the effect shrank the longer people took it (Pooyandjoo et al., 2016).

Resistant Dextrin and Psyllium Husk

In a crossover study, 14 g a day of resistant dextrin raised fasting fullness scores over 28 days, but it didn't change how much people ate or their body measurements (Hobden et al., 2021). Psyllium has stronger support: a meta-analysis of six trials found modest weight loss with about 10.8 g a day taken before meals for several months (Gibb et al., 2023). Those authors worked for a company that sells a psyllium product.

The Dose Question

This is the biggest gap. The whole sachet weighs about 2 grams, shared by seven ingredients. The fiber studies above used 10 to 14 grams a day, so even a sachet of pure fiber would supply a fraction of that. Without published amounts, there's no way to compare Akemi Coffee Boost with the doses that were tested.

How Much Caffeine Is in Akemi Coffee Boost?

The seller says each sachet contains around 30 mg of naturally sourced caffeine from green coffee bean extract. That's small on its own, but it adds to the caffeine already in your cup.

DrinkApproximate caffeine
One Akemi Coffee Boost sachetAbout 30 mg (seller's figure)
12 oz regular brewed coffee113 to 247 mg (FDA)
12 oz brewed coffee plus one sachetAbout 143 to 277 mg
Daily amount the FDA cites for most adults400 mg

The FDA says 400 mg a day is an amount not generally associated with negative effects for most adults, though sensitivity varies (FDA, 2024). Too much caffeine can cause a fast heartbeat, jitters, anxiety, sleep problems, an upset stomach and headaches. The site doesn't say whether the green tea extract adds any caffeine.

How to Use Akemi Coffee Boost

  1. Tear open one sachet a day.
  2. Stir it into coffee, tea, water or a smoothie, hot or cold.
  3. Drink as usual, every day as directed.

Because of the caffeine, morning or early afternoon is a sensible time; caffeine taken even six hours before bed can disrupt sleep (Drake et al., 2013). Fiber can cause gas or bloating at first, so notice how you feel in the first week.

Who It May Suit, and Who Should Skip It

Akemi Coffee Boost may appeal to adults who:

  • Already drink coffee daily and want a simple add-in that doesn't change the taste
  • Prefer a low-caffeine product and see it as a small extra to diet, activity and sleep

Skip it, or talk to your doctor first, if you:

  • Are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breastfeeding, or are under 18
  • Are sensitive to caffeine, or have anxiety, insomnia, a heart rhythm problem or high blood pressure
  • Take diabetes medicine, since mulberry leaf and white kidney bean are marketed to affect carbohydrate and blood sugar responses
  • Take nadolol, atorvastatin, raloxifene or other medicines that may interact with green tea
  • Have liver disease, or a food allergy (the site doesn't publish allergen information)

Safety first

Akemi Coffee Boost is a dietary supplement, not a treatment for any medical condition. The seller advises anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or managing a health condition to check with a healthcare provider first. Stop using it and get medical advice if you notice a racing heart, chest discomfort, severe stomach pain, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or dark urine. See our medical disclaimer.

Akemi Coffee Boost Reviews: What to Check

Many pages that come up for Akemi Coffee Boost reviews are paid promotions. A useful review shows the ingredient list, explains the research, states real prices and downsides, and discloses how the site makes money. At the time of writing, the official US site doesn't publish customer reviews or ratings.

Akemi Coffee Boost FAQ

Is Akemi Coffee Boost instant coffee?

No. It's a flavorless powder you stir into coffee, tea, water or a smoothie, hot or cold.

How much caffeine does Akemi Coffee Boost have?

About 30 mg per sachet, according to the seller. A 12-ounce cup of regular brewed coffee typically has 113 to 247 mg, so the sachet adds a small amount on top.

Does Akemi Coffee Boost work for weight loss?

There's no published study of the product itself. Caffeine, L-carnitine and psyllium have modest supportive research, often at doses higher than a 2 g sachet can hold. Diet, activity and sleep matter far more.

What are the possible reactions to Akemi Coffee Boost?

The seller doesn't list any. Caffeine can cause jitters, a fast heartbeat or poor sleep in sensitive people, and fiber can cause gas or bloating. Green tea extract has rarely been linked to liver problems.

How long does Akemi Coffee Boost take to work?

The seller says many people notice a difference within 2 to 4 weeks of daily use; that isn't a study result. One box lasts 20 days, so plan around the 30-day guarantee.

Can I take it while pregnant or breastfeeding?

The seller advises checking with your healthcare provider first, and we agree.

Is Akemi Coffee Boost a subscription?

No. The order page says each order is a one-time purchase with no recurring billing or hidden fees. At the time of writing, it's sold through its official website.

Bottom Line

Akemi Coffee Boost is a convenient, flavorless add-in with a reasonable ingredient list and about 30 mg of caffeine per sachet. Its weak spots are transparency and dose: the site doesn't publish ingredient amounts, a 2 g sachet can't hold the fiber amounts used in research, and the product itself hasn't been studied.

If you want a simple daily habit that fits into your morning coffee, and you're comfortable with a 30-day guarantee that has return conditions, it's a low-caffeine option to consider. Treat it as a small extra, not a substitute for the basics. For the bigger picture, read Does Coffee Help You Lose Weight? or browse our weight loss guides.
